Lao QR Parser ("the App", "we") helps you scan, parse and generate Lao LAPNet/EMVCo payment QR codes, recognise text from images (OCR), track expenses and tasks, and use built-in AI assistant features. This policy explains what data the App handles and why.
Information Stored on Your Device
- Scan history of QR codes you scan or parse.
- Expenses, budgets and tasks you create in the App.
- App settings such as theme, language and currency.
This data is stored only in the App's private storage on your device. You can delete it at any time from within the App, or by uninstalling the App.
Camera and Images
- Camera permission is used for QR code scanning, OCR text recognition, and capturing receipts or bills.
- Images are processed for the feature you requested and are not stored on our servers after processing.
- When you use an AI feature on an image (for example, scanning a receipt to auto-fill an expense, or splitting a bill), the image is sent securely to our backend for processing — see "AI Features" below.
AI Features
The App includes optional AI features: the AI assistant chat, receipt scanning, bill splitting, and QR analysis. When you actively use one of these features:
- The content you submit (your message text, and any image, file or QR data you choose to include) is sent over an encrypted connection to our backend, hosted on Supabase.
- Our backend forwards the request to third-party AI providers (currently DeepSeek and OpenAI) to generate a response, and may use a web-search provider (Tavily) when you enable web search.
- These providers process the request to return a result. We do not use this content to advertise to you, and we do not sell it.
- Do not submit sensitive personal information you would not want processed by a third-party AI service.
Device and Diagnostic Information
To keep the AI features available and fair for everyone and to fix problems, we send a limited amount of technical information to our backend:
- A non-reversible (hashed) device identifier used to apply daily usage limits to the AI features.
- Device model, platform and app version, used for usage limits and diagnostics.
- Error and crash diagnostics (such as an error type, message and technical stack trace) when something goes wrong, so we can improve stability.
We do not collect your name, contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
Optional Google Drive Backup
- If you choose to back up, your tasks and expenses are saved to your own Google Drive, in the app's private "app data" folder.
- We access only that private folder — not the rest of your Drive.
- You can delete the backup from your Google account at any time.
Network Access
- Loading bank and QR reference data and using AI features.
- Opening a link only when you choose to open one from a scanned QR code.
Data Sharing
- We do not sell your data.
- We share data only with the service providers needed to run the App's features: Supabase (backend hosting), and the AI/search providers listed above, strictly to process your requests.
Your Choices
- You can use most of the App (scanning, parsing, generating, expenses, tasks) without using the AI features.
- Delete your local data anytime from within the App.
- Revoke camera permission in your device settings.
- Uninstall the App to remove all local data.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Lao QR Parser ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
- QR code scanning, parsing and decoding (Lao LAPNet/EMVCo)
- QR code and barcode generation
- Text recognition (OCR) from images
- Expense tracking, budgets and a task manager
- AI assistant features: chat, receipt scanning, bill splitting and QR analysis
- Optional backup and restore via your own Google Drive
- Local storage of your history, expenses and tasks
3. User Responsibilities
- Use the App in compliance with all applicable laws
- Do not use the App for illegal purposes
- Do not reverse engineer, modify, or distribute the App
- Do not misuse the AI features or attempt to bypass usage limits
- Respect intellectual property rights of others
You acknowledge that:
- You are responsible for the content you scan, generate or submit
- Scan and OCR accuracy may vary with lighting and image quality
- AI-generated results (including receipt and bill readings) may be inaccurate or incomplete and should be reviewed before you rely on them
- You should verify all payment details independently before making any payment
4. AI Features and Usage Limits
- When you use an AI feature, the content you submit is sent to our backend and third-party AI providers to generate a response, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- AI features are provided on a fair-use basis and are subject to daily usage limits per device.
- Do not submit sensitive personal information to the AI features.
5. Privacy and Data
- Your history, expenses and tasks are stored locally on your device and can be deleted anytime.
- Some features (AI, diagnostics, optional Google Drive backup) send data to our backend or third-party services.

6. Intellectual Property
- App and original content belong to the developer
- You retain ownership of your scanned/created content
- Third-party code follows their licenses
7. Disclaimers
The App is provided "AS IS". No warranties for:
- Scan result accuracy
- Device compatibility
- Error-free usage
- Security of scanned/generated content
8. Limitation of Liability
- No liability for indirect or consequential damages
- Not liable for data loss or business interruption
- Not liable for misuse of scan content
9. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services (including Supabase for backend hosting and AI/search providers such as DeepSeek, OpenAI and Tavily) to provide certain features. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are also not responsible for any third-party content accessed through scanned QR codes or links.
10. Updates and Changes
We may update the App or these Terms at any time. Continued use after updates means you accept the changes.
11. Termination
You may uninstall the App anytime. We may restrict usage for violations of these Terms.
12. Geographic Limitations
The App is intended for Laos and Southeast Asia. Features may vary by region.
